Publishing Your Web GalleryThere are several options for publishing your web gallery. WebGen opens a browser on your web gallery automatically so you can view it locally right away. If you like what you see you may wish to publish it more widely so that others can see it. It is common for ISPs (Internet Service Providers) to provide some space for a personal web page. Contact your ISP to get specific information about your options. The most common way to publish web pages to a web server is using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to copy the files. The following instructions give an outline of the common FTP process, however, each ISP is different. You must check with your ISP to make sure that you have FTP access to your account or if there are other special instructions. There are some simple FTP programs available, but this functionality is also built in to recent versions of Internet Explorer. In Internet Explorer, from the File, Open menu, type "ftp://userid@yourISP.com" where "userid" is your user name and "yourISP.com" is your ISP domain name. You will be prompted for a password. Enter your normal password and if all goes well you will be shown directory of files on the server. You may need to navigate to a directory specifically for your web pages. Once you have found the desired location your can drag and drop the folder created by WebGen onto Internet Explorer just as if you were copying files locally. Depending on the speed of your connection to the internet and the size of your web gallery, it can take a significant amount of time to copy the photos and web pages to the server. Once you have all the files in pace, you can check with your ISPs instructions to determine the exact URL of your web gallery. Test it to make sure it works and then send the URL to your friends. Congratulations! You published your web gallery. Continue for information about Customizing WebGen.
