Adding Titles and Descriptions using digital photo utilities

Have you ever looked through your old shoeboxes of pictures and wondered, "Who are those people?"  With digital photographs you can store extra information, such as a text description of the picture, in the JPEG file.  Using digital photo utilities, you can add information to the internal EXIF metadata of your pictures so that you will never again have to wonder "who was that with uncle Joe?"  This information is stored in the image file itself so it won't ever get lost, but it doesn't affect the picture quality.

First, choose the images you would like to edit.  You can select individual images or entire folders.  You can select pictures using Windows Explorer, or many popular image viewing programs.  Simply drag and drop the images onto digital photo utilities MetaEdit action.

digital photo utilities shows you each image in order and allows you to enter a title and comment.  In addition, all images can have copyright and artist information written to them.  This information is called metadata and it conforms to the EXIF standard (the most common metadata standard for digital cameras).

Your images now have metadata stored in them.

The information you have stored can be used by digital photo utilities for generating web galleries, creating captions and other advanced applications.  Because this metadata is stored in standard EXIF format, it is also accessible to any other application compatible with this type of data.
