Quick Install Instructions for Microsoft .NET Framework

The Microsoft .NET Framework is a large component and therefore including it as part of our installer makes for a large installer file, however, if you have a broadband connection, this is a quick and easy way to get the Pixlabs application and the English version of the Microsoft .NET Framework together.  Click on one of the buttons below to begin the download, or choose one of the other installation options.

This is a single installer that will both install the application and seamlessly and silently install the English version of the .NET Framework, so you don't have to worry about the Microsoft downloads.  Simply unzip the files to a directory on your hard drive and then double click on "setup.exe."

Note: Depending on the components installed on your machine and its speed, the first screen can take several minutes.  It is important to wait through this process for the installation to succeed.

Please let us know if you have any problems installing!

Download and run the .NET Framework Redistributable Package called (dotnetfx.exe) from this Microsoft page.

Install from Pixlabs CD.  All Pixlabs product CDs automatically and silently install the .NET Framework if needed.  The entire installation process is quick and easy.

Once the .NET Framework is installed, the Pixlabs installations can proceed normally.

The .NET Framework is a 20MB+ component, so downloading over a dial-up connection is only recommended for the VERY patient.

What is the Microsoft .NET Framework?

The .NET Framework is a new component of Windows created by Microsoft.  Pixlabs programs requires the .NET libraries to run, so the .NET Framework must be installed on your machine in order for them to operate properly.  In the future you will find more and more applications that use .NET, so installing it now will mean you will be ready for these other programs as well.  Aside from installing it on your computer to enable these new applications, there is very little for you to do.  .NET should not change the operation of your computer.

You can learn more about it from this article or from the Microsoft .NET home page.  Future versions of Windows will include the .NET Framework, and so no extra downloads will be required.
