Upgrading your Pixlabs Application

If you recently checked the "Help/Check for newer version..." menu item or Pixlabs web site and discovered a new version is available, this page will help you to get up and running with the most recent version.

Currently all upgrades are free to registered or unregistered users.

Unregistered Users: Depending on how significant the change are, the new release may reset your trial period (i.e. it may give you more time to evaluate the product)

The process is the same whether you have a registered or unregistered version of digital photo utilities.   Because you have already installed the application, upgrading is relatively simple.  You simply download the latest version below.  You then install it as usual.  If you are a registered user, your key will continue to work with the new release.

Note:  Quit before you upgrade.  You must make certain that the application you are upgrading is NOT running while you install the new version.

Important note for upgrades:  There is currently a bug in the Microsoft installer (which we use for PhotoFramer and digital photo utilities).  Under certain circumstances, depending on whether you choose to install for a single user ("Just Me") or for all users ("Everyone"), the uninstaller will not properly remove the previous version of the program.  The problem seems to occur when the "Everyone" option is chosen during install or the uninstall has a different setting than the original install.  This can lead to multiple versions of the program being installed at once and ultimately anomalous behavior.

In order to resolve the issue, after you have installed the new version simply go to your Start Menu/Control Panel and choose "Add or Remove Programs."  Look in the list for two versions of PhotoFramer or digital photo utilities.  Select the older version and click on the "Remove" button.  In order to keep the problem from occurring in the future, we recommend always choosing the "Just Me" installation option.

Note: If you own PhotoFramer or Digital Photo Utilities these upgrades are free, and your license key should continue to work.  If you have any problems upgrading, please drop us a line at support@pixlabs.com
